Each year the graduating class is invited to a fun reception hosted by the Alumnae Association celebrating your last day of classes! It is a time to get sized for your alumnae ring, vote for your Valedictorian, pick up your tickets to Baccalaureate and Convocation Lunch and of course eat lots of yummy food!!

Meet your 2016 Valedictorian

Bethany Staubitz

Bethany StaubitzI am applying to be Valedictorian because like many of my peers, I am a transfer student and Brescia has provided me with a second chance. Upon arrival I truly believed that I would attend my classes, and do my time here until I could return to my “real life”. I am not sure when, but at some point along the journey Brescia became my real life (although I strongly suspect it was Biochem 2288).

Most of us internally groan at the start of each semester when we are presented with yet another group project, but over this final semester with graduation looming, I realized my entire degree has been a group project; and while only my name will be on my diploma, I can think of dozens of names that should be listed as co-owners.

I apply not because I am the brightest, or most involved student (although I always tried to be), but because Brescia has changed me over the years I have spent here, as I imagine it has done for each of my fellow graduates, and I would be honoured to articulate that growth for my peers, faculty, and family supporters.
